Linguatots was established because of our belief that children should be introduced to a second language at as young an age as possible. There are life-long advantages to be gained from early language learning, in areas which extend way beyond the gift of language alone.

It can be very difficult to find fun and exciting language learning materials in the shops for very young children, yet research shows that the ideal age to start learning a second language is between birth and 6 years of age. In fact - the younger the better! And if you don't speak the language fluently yourself, don't let this put you off. Our aim is to search out good quality, innovative products, which make language learning fun and easy for young children - including babies, toddlers, pre-school and primary school children, and which do not necessarily rely on a native speaker to share the learning experience with the child.

Linguatots was founded by Dawn Guthrie in 2002, when her own children were very young. With a degree in French and Russian, Dawn was keen to expose her children to the French language in their early years. Having taught French to children in nurseries and in after-school clubs, Dawn is currently creating a range of materials that will allow other parents to experience the joy of learning French with their children during those early years.
